  • Making square end straps for Vaughn leg pads

    Hello,

I have a set of vaughn leg pads that I want to replace the straps. Online they are selling for $10 a piece and I think I can do it myself.
I would like to know if anyone knows what thickness of leather I should purchase? I've been searching the web to find this out but haven't been able too.
The old straps are not in good shape so I can't measure those.

    Thank you for any help

What website are you looking at to purchase these straps?

I saw them at a couple of sites but this was the cheapest.

Thanks chas33. I thought of doing that and I will end up doing that if I can't figure out the thickness. I wanted to order some leather online and try and keep the cost down as much as possible.

              Hi Chas,

Sorry about my delayed response. I was actually able to get a strap from one of the pads that our arena had. I took it to the leather store and bought a sheet of leather for about $30 that I can make 20 straps out of. The color is basic cow hide but it works. Thank you again everyone for your help.
