Jim's Sham Sweatbands

A quick review for Jim's sham sweatbands. They're sweatbands, so either they absorb your sweat or they don't. These do!

For those who don't know, a member here with the username Jim makes and sells Sham sweatbands here on the board. On a whim, I decided to try out a set since I have been using the same old sweatbands in my mask for years, they are pretty worn down and frayed by now. The idea of a sham sweatband seemed interesting, so I figured "what the hell?"

Jim was very friendly and easy to deal with when asking some questions prior to ordering and the sweatbands were shipped almost instantly (literally hours after I sent the money with paypal). Shipping was fast and easy, and the sham sweatbands seem to be doing a great job so far as absorbing all the sweat and keeping it out of my eyes.

One additional benefit I found to using these over the standard sportmask sweatbands that was since these are a bit softer than the sweatbands I had been using earlier and offer a bit of a "pillow" on my forehead, which allowed me to maintain a snugger fit with the mask without having to tighten the straps which I had to previously. This resulted in a much more comfortable fit as wearing the mask tighter previously usually resulted in some discomfort around the forehead area.

Overall quality and service: A+

If you are interested in trying out a sham sweatband solution by all means send Jim a PM.

Everyone I know who has purchased one LOVES them. Now that they offered the two thicknesses the yellow (thicker) and blue (thin) there is no mask that shouldn't be without these bands.

These Sweatbands are a must have

I ordered a set of two from Jim, i went with the thicker size. these things are awesome; no sweat in the eyes, mask fits better, no brainer.

this is a must-have for me.

transaction was painless and shipment was fast.

please buy from him so he keeps making them.

Top notch, top notch!!!

Piling on...

Fantastic all the way around - Jim was super fast in responding to my inquiry, he cut me a great deal compared to the eBay price, and shipped them out immediately. Talked to him on Monday, was wearing them on the ice on Thursday. They stick like glue to the velcro points in my helmet, sop up sweat twice as well as what I was using (stock sweatband), and were completely comfortable from the minute I put on the helmet until I put it back in my bag afterwards.

If you're looking for replacement sweatbands, I can't imagine you're going to find anything better!

Not sure I ever commented here but these are truly amazing. After experiencing the HGT first hand I can I will never play without these....that is until the day I forget to grab a sweatband before my game. Jim is a top-notch guy and gave me 3 for 2. Thanks

Thumbs up

I ran into this thread couple weeks ago. PM'd Jim and had three sweatbands (2 yellow one blue) in my mailbox three days later.

These things are great. Takes care of the sweat much better than my previous sweatbands and helps keep the mask from moving around. Stitching is top notch. Sometimes the little things make a big differance. I highly recommend these. The yellow ones fit my needs better than the blue, but if you have a tight fitting mask I would recommend blue.

When I play back to back games, I just wring it out and it ready to go again.

I ordered two form Jim after stumbling across this thread. Jim was great to deal with, he even added a thin sweatband for free so that I could try it out!

The sweatband itself is great, and works as advertised (absorbs all the sweat). When i first put it in it was considerably thicker than my old worn sweatbands which made my mask sit a little funny. However, after it got a little wet during the game it flattened down, and felt great! I absolutely recommend these to anyone. As Jim says they grip your head once wet and really prevent your mask from moving around on you.

Did Jim go commercial with these? I see them on goaliemonkey as a "new item". Same ones?

They certainly look like it. I'll be curious to hear if Jim is behind these.

But, I also have had nothing but great experience with both the headbands and Jim's service.
