Battram Throat guard review
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off I'd like to thank Scott for having me be one of the first to sport his new product. I own a Maltese also, but anytime Battram comes out with something new, I gotta have it.
Battram will offer both faom, or gel materials for this piece. Most of us have already heard about the popularity of gel collar, and many speak wonders of it. Mine is a full gel collar, and is very comfortable, there isn't an issue of stiffness, restriction or mask interference with the gel, it really is form fitting. Although the reason that it is form fitting (contours the body), is probably due to its weight, keep in mind that the gel is heavier than any foam. You can really feel the difference when holding a gel collar, compared to a regular one (in my case my old Heaton). Once its on though you don't feel any weight issues, atleast I didn't, and I'm extremly difficult with the issue of the weight of a product.
For those of you who are concerened of the weight of the collar, just ask Scott to make you a foam one. But seriously, you can't feel a difference once your in action.
The neoprene is very soft and comfortable, and that along with the air knit dries very well.
As for Battram customizing, Scott added a piece of jenpro on the bib (which actually caught me by surprise, if I'd had known of this I may have opted for a different color or added graphic) This makes the collar unique and different compared to any other out there.
All in all this is a throat collar that is comfortable, offers high protection, with the best materials available, which can be tailored and modified to your individual needs and look.
I've only used it once, but I can honestly say that its one of the best pieces of equiptment I've ever owned

LOL!!!
This, also. is not a review of this product. Please use for AT LEAST 10 games, and get hit on it more than a few times, before you boast about it.
Another advertisement.

How exactly is this an advertisement? He said he has used it once and was giving his opinion on it. As I recall that happens quite a bit here.

Well when I read those posts, I'll comment the same on them.
He used it once. He not only comments on what he got, but what's available in options. That's not a review, those parts are an advertisement. It's like he's trying to sell it/
Just my opinion.

Gotta love the Junior Moderators around here.
There's no need to lock the thread. He has used it on the ice, he is giving his opinion. It's not like it's a glove or pads...how it is on day 1 is how it will be on day 10.
If you don't have an honest question about the gear, an honest comment on the gear, or at least a "Hey, nice gear" comment, don't bother. Don't start any drama, it's just not necessary.
Photos would help, and update the review after you've used it a few times.

If you're getting hit on the throat collar, you're doing something wrong.

I can think of exactly 3 times I've been hit in my Maltese, and I think I got my first one in 2006.
I guess I wouldn't be able to review that.
Let's keep this on topic please. If you post something off topic and it is deleted, don't be shocked.

I can't recall being hit... and I've been playing net for 25 years. Its definitely a 3rd or 4th backup to (1) your hands, (2) your dangler (I don't wear one), and (3) your mask's chin. Its important to have as the neck is a danger spot, but its very hard to wait until you get hit to write a review. So, I appreciate hearing about the construction (goes to protection), and comfort levels. thx.

How about a pic of it on you, and not at Scott's shop?
