Smile g-netik pads

well got my new pads sat. from the fantastic guys over at the hockey shop in surrey... they not only found me a set that i wanted but when i told them i needed them for game on monday, they had them to me the next day air! great customer service. now i purchased these pads sight unseen and just went on the advise of my goalie coach Andy Nielson in Abbotsford.. i was in rbk then eagle then v3 7500 then zero gs, each pad was good and had there own weaknesses and strenghts.. so my pads were a 35+1 zero g purchased in march, loved them, but 5 hole issues and knee keep hitting the ice.. so my new ones are a 35+2 and wow are they nice. I have been looking at the ccm and vaughn ventus... but the Brians is just that much nicer........ materials are soft, stiching is perfect, all wear areas look to be well made to hold up.... but a beautiful pad is nothing if it dosent work.. so monday morning i went out with some of the Okotoks bisons jr.b guys to get used to them... took less than 5 min to get used to them and make the correct strap adjustments. hell there is only one strap anyway so that was easy... THIS IS THE BEST MADE PAD. TO DATE. it has all the features of every other pad out there but its lighter and faster than vaughn or ccm or sleezbok. the only way it could be perfect is price it at $1199.99! Rotation is quick and precise, rebound control was very very predictable, they are super comfortable on the legs, closure of 5 hole was perfect. and great knee protection when exposed... also guys the level of adjustments is endless with there smart strap set up or the regular straps which are included with the pads. (should include a bstar shirt with each order). landing area was perfect nice and big an enough support to handle my heavy frame with no issues.
my final thoughts on this is: with so many quality pads out there by so many reputable companies, how can you make a decision on what to buy.. is it buy looking at what pro goalies in the nhl wear, word of mouth, what the reps in the sports shops say, adds on the internet or t.v.? well i am lucky to be able to try alot of differnt gear and can tell you that the best 1600.00 bones you can spend will be on the Brians. they just due more of everything right. not all perfect! but more things right... . and thats just my two cents..

so you were getting knee to ice issues in 35+1 Zero Gs - I'm assuming you were falling below and off the knee blocks - and you went with 35+2 in G-Netiks?

Can you elaborate as to why the shop recommended you stay in a 35 in Brian's with the knee hitting the ice problems you had with the Zero Gs?

I'm going to suggest hitting the enter key once or twice, it helps when reading reviews.

I had zero g before and if you dont strap the back of your knee tight enough your knee falls easily behind the small knee stacks.... Hope it helps.... I reviewed my zero gs if you want to compare....

my knee was falling out of knee area, not above or below. strapping on knee was as tight as i wanted it. any tighter and it bothered the back of my knees. with the new knee design no such issues.

I concur 100% about the G-Netiks!! I played in mine for the 1st time last night and while they were a bit stiff they felt and performed better than my previous pair of Sub Z's (which i thought were the cat's meow as far as pads go!!). I've got them scrunched down under my dresser drawers since mine have the the double outer v roll break so i can get a nice S shape going on them. I can only imagine after 3 or 4 more skates in them how much nicer they're gonna feel! Just brings a smile to my face!!

I'm about 90% going with gnetik's for my next set of gear. I'm coming from a set of smith 6000's and was talked out of going with the ritual pad by LHS.
My smith's tend to give off big rebounds (but you get use to it), how do the gnetiks play?

I find my gnetiks give off cannon shot sounds and rebounds are hard off hard shots and soft off soft if that makes sense. Also if your ordering i prefer the stitched logos instead of the bubble gnetik logos. I dont know if its offered to joes like me or you but the ones i have have it and they look way better lol.

What were the reasons your LHS gave for talking you out of the Rituals?

They said the past 2 or 3 sets they've sold there were quality issues. They said it was a great pad (pretty much identical to my 6000 set), but now that Pete's not making them the quality has gone down. They recommended Brians, Vaughn, or Bauer.

Thanks for the info on the rebounds. When I order mine, I having them do a full flat face pad with halak graphics.

Stitched logos are available, just be sure to specify it, or you will get the bubbles.

I had similar issue with knee stacks on my zero Gs and have since moved to rituals and couldn't be happier. I wanted a more flat face pads that wasn't so soft and the gnets in my opinion were way too soft.
